IDPS Children of North Waziristan Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

 Dear Colleagues,

The Executive Committee Pakistan Paediatric Association Khyber Pukhtonkhwa (PPA-KP) and its members are deeply concerned regarding the health and welfare of children of IDPs / internally displaced families, as a consequence of North Waziristan Operation. These
children are highly vulnerable to all types of health problems, including communicable diseases, malnutrition and effects of hot weather. The PPA being the custodian of child rights and welfare is committed to offer its social and expert medical services to these
children. The Association would like to be partner with the Health Department KP, UNICEF, WHO and other Humanitarian organization to jointly work with and address the immediate medical and other health
need of children.

In order to move forward, we suggest the following:

  • Provide Technical support to health department and

Humanitarian organization on issues related to IDPs children and their
health.

  • Strengthen the services given to children of IDPs in Bannu,

Kohat and Peshawar.

  • Establish a Pediatric Unit in KhalifaGulnawaz Hospital Bannu

and Peshawar, subject to provision of space and related support.

  • Provide medicines (with its limited resources).

  • Would like to reserve 4 to 5 beds in each tertiary Care

Hospitals in Peshawar for the referred cases.
